A warm, grounding, and skin-loving oil used in natural skincare.
Sandalwood Essential Oil is derived from the heartwood of the Santalum tree (often Santalum album or other Santalum species). It has a deep, woody, sweet and creamy aroma that many find calming and meditative.
True sandalwood is native to parts of India, Indonesia, and Australia, where the tree’s heartwood is steam-distilled to produce the essential oil. Historically and culturally, sandalwood has held a revered place in perfumery, spiritual rites, and traditional medicine.
Moisturising & nourishing — Sandalwood oil helps retain skin moisture and can improve smoothness.
Soothing & calming — Its gentle, grounding scent and properties may help relax and calm irritated skin.
Balancing — It can help balance oil production, which is helpful for both dry and combination skin types.
Supports skin regeneration — It is sometimes valued for promoting skin cell health and improving texture.
Long-lasting fragrance — As a base note in blends, it blends well and gives depth to soap scents.
We include Sandalwood Essential Oil in some of our goat milk soaps because its warm, woody scent complements the creamy gentleness of goat milk, while also providing skin-loving benefits. Blended carefully and in safe concentrations, it adds a touch of luxury without overpowering your daily routine.
When diluted appropriately in soap, it is generally well-tolerated, but like any essential oil, a patch test is wise if you have very reactive skin.
It has a soft, rich, woody, and slightly sweet aroma — aromatic yet grounding.
Not typically, when used at standard levels in soap formulations. Still, it’s best to let soap lather and rinse thoroughly.
While not a miracle cure, sandalwood’s nourishing and regenerative qualities are believed to help maintain skin texture and suppleness over time.
